Childcare

MBCS provides before and after-school childcare that is in keeping with the Waldorf-inspired curriculum. Students play outdoors and have indoor space for activities.

A student is enrolled in Childcare by filling out a Childcare Enrollment Agreement.

Child Care Hours

Kindergarten:

Morning Care:        Monday – Friday:  7:15 – 9:00 am

After School Care:  1:00 – 5:30 pm (Thursday: 12:00 – 5:30 pm)

Grades 1-8:

Morning Care:        Monday – Friday:  7:15 – 8:15 am

After School Care:  2:30 – 5:30 pm (Thursday: 12:40 – 5:30 pm)

Childcare Information

All students actively enrolled at MBCS may use Childcare.

COST

Rate:  $5.50 per hour.

Auto-pay Discount

A 15% discount to the rate above if you sign up for automated payments by check, debit card, or credit card that covers the monthly usage. The $5.50 per hour rate will be charged for any usage not covered by the Auto-Pay Agreement. To receive the discounted rate, parents must sign an Auto-Pay Agreement with Kim King any time after August 1st. Call the school office to make an appointment or simply stop in.

Monthly Billing

For those paying the full rate ($5.50 per hour), invoices will be emailed monthly and are payable in full upon receipt. Payment must be submitted directly to the school office in Pacific Grove. Payment may be made by check (payable to MBCS), credit card, debit card or cash.

A $25.00 Fee will be Charged

  • if there is no payment of an outstanding balance for a full month and account becomes delinquent.
  • if an account becomes delinquent for three consecutive months, childcare may not be used until the account is current.
  • for returned checks.
  • if a student is picked up after childcare ends.

·        In the morning, you must indicate on the classroom sign-in sheet that your child will be staying for Childcare.

·        Classroom aides transition students to the Sunflower childcare room.

·        Lunch must be provided and left in the Sunflower Room (Room 12) each day childcare is provided.

·        Child must be signed out when picked up.

·        Outdoor play alternates with free play in the Sunflower Room. Children are engaged in storytelling, art projects and games.

·        Naps are limited to no more than 30 minutes and at the request of any parent, the child will not be allowed to nap.

·        Kindergarteners may not use childcare at the Pacific Grove campus.

Grades 1 2: Structured outdoor play/games will take place alongside arts, crafts, handwork, water play, and imaginative free play.

Grades 3 – 8: Available every day school is in session. Outdoor activities, tinkering, crafts and social interaction are the focus of the After School Care program for the upper grades.

·        Study hall option is available some days for one hour after school.

·        Pack an afternoon snack.

·        On Thursday student must bring a lunch. No gum, candy or sugary drinks are allowed.

·        Parents and students not in childcare are not permitted in the designated childcare area at any time.

General Information, All Ages:

·        Students are expected to follow all school rules and policies.

·        All students actively enrolled at MBCS may use these childcare services.

·        Childcare is not provided on days when there is no school unless announced separately.

·        Toys, electronic games and other gadgets are not allowed at school.

·        Childcare staff may request a conference to discuss a child’s behavior. A child may be asked to go home if behavior is disruptive or harmful, in which case a parent/guardian or emergency contact will be notified and will need to pick up the child upon notification. If the child has repetitive episodes of such behavior, the child will not be allowed to use childcare. In such a case, any unused child care balance will be refunded.

·        The local Police Department has advised MBCS to call them and/or Child Protective Services in the event that parents or emergency contacts cannot be reached after 6:00 PM.
